Warriors Orochi 4 – Character Feature

When Josh and Tom did a first-look video of Warriors Orochi 4 last week, they got access to some heavenly weapons in-game. To celebrate the EU launch, Koei Tecmo introduced the latest additions to the game, a variety of gods with an updated look! This game recently broke the Guinness Book of World Record for having the most playable characters in a hack and slash video game at 170 characters!

On the updated roster are Greek and Nordic gods which includes Ares, Athena, Perseus, Odin, and Zeus. These deities are going to play a big part in the newest installment of the franchise, and will bring a bit of supernatural flair to fighting the big baddies of the game. Here’s a quick look at the options!

Ares

The mythical god Ares, son of Zeus, is also known as the Greek God of War. Ares followed his formidable father to Orochi’s dimensional realm. There, he represents the violent and untamed aspect of war. He contrasts his sister Athena, who represents intelligence, military strategy, and generalship.

Arrogant and prideful, Ares is highly confident in his own strength and looks down on humans for their perceived weaknesses.

Athena

The mythological goddess of wisdom and warfare. Born from the head of Zeus, she is regarded as a guardian deity of cities. She followed her father to Orochi’s world in search of Perseus who had betrayed their ranks. Athena compels awe and respect. Her loyalty to her father is only matched by her strong sense of responsibility.

In battle, Athena’s Aegis can be used to perform a plethora of flexible combos to clear large crowds. Some of her charge attacks will turn enemies into stone, and finishing them off in this state will reduce them to dust.

Perseus

The demigod Perseus rebels against Zeus’s machinations by entering Orochi’s dimensional realm. This forces Athena to come and pursue him. Although he seemingly lends his assistance to the humans, he has a mischievous secret that is set to shock other gods.

Fighting with the famed weapon, Mistilteinn, it serves as a hint to his secret identity while he fights his battles in this exciting installment.

Odin

The mythological Norse god who ruled over Asgard before the coming of Ragnarok, Odin is often associated with wisdom and magic. Legends often depict him as a one-eyed traveler wearing a cloak and hat. In the Warriors Orochi series, Odin arrives in the new dimension to seize power. This results in a struggle between him, Zeus, and the Mystics.

Working with Perseus, he sent him ahead to manipulate the human armies for his own personal desire.

Zeus

The mythological god of thunder who governs over the other deities of Mount Olympus. Zeus took an interest in Orochi’s parallel world and brought the heroes back there to realize his ambitions of conquering new dimensions.

Often considered the greatest of the Olympian Gods, he is one of the most famous mythological beings. His exploits include gaining control of the sky and lightning, and becoming leader of the Olympians.

These are definitely new takes on some old gods. However, they’ve got that flair that makes them feel right at home in the franchise. Each have their own set of supernatural powers to bring to the battlefield. Warriors Orochi 4 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch for $59.95.
